Training on Integrated Farming System (IFS) and Vermi Composting

 

Day long training on integrated farming system (IFS) and Vermi-composting, under National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) was organized by Agriculture Deptt. Hayuliang, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh in collaboration with ICAR, KVK Anjaw, on 6th may 2015 at Chipru village under Chaglagam C.D block, Anjaw.

Agriculture Development Officer (ADO), Mr. S.  Bhattacharjee, speaking on the welcome note, address the participant farmers to be attentive and clear the doubt regarding IFS and Vermicomposting from resource person ICAR, KVK, Anjaw, in presence of Circle Officer Chaglagam ans zilla parishad member Chaglagam.

Dr. Tilling Tayo, Programme Coordinator in charge, ICAR, KVK Anjaw, briefly highlighted the role of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Agri & Allied field and pledge to work in close coordination with farmers, farm women and rural youths to up lift the agriculture scenario of Anjaw district. He further narrated the mandates of KVK and asked farmers to corporate in percolating down the improved technology, which is developed by scientist under lab condition to grass root level at farmers field.

Mr. Khelosa Talyo, ZPM, Chaglagam, motivated the farmer in local dialects to gather information as much as, regarding integrated farming system and vermicomposting from ADO, Hayuling and resource person from ICAR, KVK, Anjaw. He further highlighted the schemes, available under Agriculture deptt. which can be benefited to farmers and urge the participant farmers to avail the opportunity in days to come.

Er. Uday Bhandari, Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) Agri. Engineer, KVK Anjaw, spoke on water conservation technology using different means viz. Jalkund, contour bunding & graded bunding. He said water is life line of Agriculture, without water no agriculture activities can be sustainable, so conservation of water is must for very success in agriculture practices. He emphasized farmers to opt for construction of Jalkund which is very easy to construct with the use of UV silpaulin to check seepage loss and water store in the Jalkund can be used for Irrigation, fish pond and livestock etc.

   

Dr. Tilling Tayo, Programme Coordinator in charge, ICAR, KVK Anjaw, delivered a lecture with power point presentation on the role of animal in integrated farming system. He explained the matrix of interrelationship between animal-soil & plant, further he exhort that integrated farming system (IFS) is a farming module in which one farm waste product is used as input for another farming, citing an example of poultry and maize cultivation. Waste products, poultry droopings is used as farm yard manure (FYM) in maize cultivation, a result of FYM applications maize grow very healthy, due to presence of available nutrients in soil. The maize corn is used for human consumption and broken maize is used for poultry feeding and stoke part of maize can be used as fodder for cattle and goat etc. so, farmers must try to develop IFS module for efficient use of farm waste products.

Aniyng Ratan, Circle officer (C.O), Chaglagam, took active part in training programme, appreciating the farmers response to training, ADO, Hayuling for organizing training on important topic and ICAR, KVK Anjaw, for acting as catalyst between farmers and organizer. He insist that mind set of farmers must change and should shift towards scientific farming system for sustainable income generation, instead of running behind contract work, if really word called development want to bring in rural area of Anjaw district.    

The training was concluded with practical demonstration of vermicomposting by Mr. S. Bhattacharjee, ADO, Hayuliang and Mr. Chogelum Kora, AFA, Hayuliang, which was followed by distribution of high yielding varieties of Maize, Paddy, pulses (Dal) and vegetable seeds along with four numbers of poly house to the farmers. Altogether including farmers, farm women and rural youths 90 participant have attended the said training programme.
